HR Feature Car Friday, Issue 2:Moe Power! From H to K all day!

Sep 27, 2017

Murfreesboro Tennessee’s Moe Drennon has a beautiful ’92 CX hatchback, but it sure didn’t always look this pretty. It started out as a forgotten, unloved, sad, little car, that was used as a bird feeder by it’s original owners! Moe started out by cleaning out the bird seed and a simple H22 swap with associated mods. After messing around with the H series for a while Moe got serious and upgraded to the big leagues with a full K20Z1 swap.

The K series’ intake side got treated to an RBC intake manifold and a bored out throttle body paired with custom 3” intake; the hot side received a Hybrid Racing exhaust manifold and a one off 2.5” exhaust system. Keeping K20′s thirst quenched Moe replaced the fuel system with Hybrid Racing’s upgraded versions and Moe ditched the tired OEM radiator for a Fluidyne upgrade. Moe’s car had received a fresh coat of vogue silver metallic paint when it was sporting the H, with the addition of the K, he wanted a little more well earned attention. The civic’s boring rollers were swapped out for 15×8” TRmotorsport C1′s with an aggressive +20 offset on all four corners, and a set of Buddy Club N+ coil overs got the civic sitting prettier. The civic consistently put down over 215 horsepower to the wheels so Moe turned his attention to the interior to give him more control, and more safety. Moe removed the back seat and all the plastics behind the newly installed Recaro pole position seat to make room for the custom 4 point Kirk Racing roll cage. Moe replaced the original steering wheel with a 330mm Nardi alternative, and installed a Circuit hero shifter extender topped with a Karcepts shift knob and called the interior done!

Moe’s been having a blast cruising in his Honda and loves the clean instant power of his new K swap, but like most tuners he’s never done and in his won words “as of 2012 the car’s getting a makeover.” we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for it!
